Grain Bin Gazebo

Well what a wee little whirlwind this summer was with the addition of our grain bin gazebo!! What started as a hopeful “someday” Facebook post turned into our new favorite spot that has blessed our property and several others’ as well! We were so overjoyed at our fall barn market this to see the gazebo completely full and being enjoyed all weekend long! We are so grateful for the blessing and blessed to share it with you all!! So…. how on earth did we do it?? I’ll do my best to share how you can create your own grain bin gazebo.

With the help of friends and family we were able to get some old grain bin jacks to take on this endeavor and got the tops of the bins on the ground. With our own we did it the hard way and used farm equipment to get it on the trailer, with each one, lessons were learned! Hahaha!! For the other 4 we kept the tops jacked up and the buyers backed their trailers right under it, MUCH EASIER!!!

Once all customers were sent down the road with bin tops in tow, it was time to get ours going. We framed up where the concrete base would go and called in the fam again to help!!

Once the concrete was set it was time to jack it up again to get it on the trailer and moved to the back yard. Derick pulled the trailer right over top of the concrete so the bin top would be as close to position as possible. Then he and the fam jacked it up yet again. I can safely say that after using the grain bin jacks on 5 different bins and the process of putting ours up, D and his dad were quite OVER those darn jacks!!! Hahahaha!!!

Once it was raised, the post anchors and posts went into place.

At this point we had to make decisions on the bottom ring we saved. Did we want to put the bottom on? Did we want one opening? Two openings? Did we want a back wall? Ultimately, we decided no wall and front and back openings was right for us.

(Fun fact, my phone had a speck of dust in the camera during this process, so every picture has a little black shadow blob! Hahahaha!!!)

So here it is….all done! I cannot wait to plant flowers around it, add lights on the inside and just make it cozy! I have been collecting these vintage concrete trowels for quite some time to create a flower. I decided it would be the perfect addition to the front of the gazebo!! We have it filled with a hodge podge of random junky/vintage chairs and benches; nothing new, nothing perfect…just the way we like it! So many memories to be made in and around our newest addition to our little repurposed legacy!!

Now to answer the number one question of our fall market weekend……. “Do you have any more grain bins?” Hahahaha!!! We heard this over and over! We are doing our best to find more and get them taken down for you so you too can enjoy your own gazebo! Be sure to follow our Facebook page, that’s where we’ll announce if we get any more! Hope this step by step helped, since I didn’t go into 100% detail, please let us know if you have any questions!! Here to help if we can!

As always, thanks for being here friends!!
