Garage Sale Fall Decor

I have had so much fun lately taking my garage sale finds and upcycling them into beautiful decor!! I am fortunate to have the “eye” of seeing something for what it can be, rather than what it is. I understand not everyone is able to see the potential in everything. Piecing junk together is a big part of what I enjoy most when I’m staging my booth for my barn markets! I always have things staged together so you can see how to style them in your own home, so if you don’t have the “eye” I’m here to help!

This whole decor setup (besides the candle) was all from garage sales or junky pieces given to my rust loving soul by family!!! SCORE!!!! Some items used here to add texture and character; 3 vintage barrel tops on the bottom and 3 rusty vintage meat saw blades….yes meat saw blades, given to me by my hubby’s uncle who happens to be a butcher! My original plan was to make a junky wreath out of them, but I really like how they add to this set up just by laying there. For those of you who don’t find rust beautiful, just omit that part! Hahaha!! The faux pumpkins are also from a garage sale, but you can pick those up anywhere. I didn’t attach or glue in the items in the lantern because I want whoever takes it home to be able to use it seasonally! My creative brain goes wild with the ideas of how to style it; fill it with beautiful colors of vintage ornaments for Christmas, a small wreath and candle for winter, a clay pot with greenery and maybe a bunny for Spring…the ideas are endless!!

This tiny little decor piece is once again, garage sale finds and a vintage cheese box that was given to me. While I’m mentioning the gift of junk again……. it is one of my favorite messages to get, someone asking if I would like to take some junk off of their hands!! WHY YES I SURE WOULD THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!!!!!! Hahaha!! I almost never make any of my repurposed decor out of anything new, if we can use old/weathered/rusty items first, that’s how we do it!! The little orange pumpkins were napkin rings, purchased from a friend’s garage sale…popped the rings off and they’re the perfect size little pumpkin to add to a small vignette!

This year my vision for my Barn Market booth is very neutral Fall decor, so this bright orange faux pumpkin just wasn’t going to cut it!! I took a pale green paint I had in the garage, added some baking soda to make it textured and while the paint was still wet I dusted on some flour!! I’ve never repurposed flour before but here we are!! Hahahahaha!!!!!

I am absolutely thrilled with how this turned out!!! A tiny bit of color to add to my neutral booth. It also had a couple chunks out of the foam so this helped to doctor that up! This pumpkin was also from another friend’s garage sale last year. At this time I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of my friends who have had garage sales…boy do I appreciate you getting rid of your stuff for my benefit!! Hahahaha!!! This was the first time I’ve painted a faux pumpkin to fit my color scheme and now I’m pretty sure ERTHING BOUT TO GET PAINTED UP IN HER!!!! Hahaha! I just love the way it turned out! We have pumpkins planted in the garden this Summer and I plan to try to paint those as well…. not sure they will turn out as good as this one but it’s absolutely worth a shot! Right?? I think the kiddos will like helping paint them as well!

I hope when you’re here, you’re inspired! And if you aren’t a DIYer or crafter and you’re just here to read, I hope it has brought you JOY!!!!!!
